MY APPROACH
AAA Standard Therapy Plan
A step-by-step approach to solving the right problem
Assessment
Stubborn or recurrent problems are often symptoms of deeper issues – so we use processes to cut through outward symptoms and the content of what we are doing when the problem occurs to get to the How you are doing that problem.
For example, a way of thinking that is generalized will often lead a person to see the wood but not the trees – so the big picture and not the detail – this way of processing can lead to rumination or stuck thinking or behaviours such as procrastination and both are often
symptoms of anxiety and depression. An example of the thinking would be “This always happens to me” – when there are plenty of situations where it does not.
So, time is spent on assessment to create a Therapy Plan or blueprint for how we are going to tackle the problem in a collaborative way. This will usually take 2-3 sessions to ensure
we understand the underlying causes and tackle the right problem in the right way that suits you as an individual. The process includes a number of different Psychometric questionnaires suited to the problem being tackled.

Assimilate
Following assessment, we will agree the goals of therapy and put together the Therapy Treatment Plan.
My approach uses a Biopsychosocial Spiritual Model, so it is very much a holistic approach. A core part of this stage is Psychoeducation – the goal of which is to help you better understand the science behind the problem. This can be liberating in itself. Those clients who have a thorough understanding of the challenges they are facing as well as the knowledge of personal coping ability, internal and external resources, and their own areas of strength are often better able to address difficulties, feel more in control and have a greater internal capacity to work towards mental and emotional well-being. The increased self-awareness from this process is one of the biggest gifts we can give ourselves and the
people around us.
“The unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates If we do not take the time to get to know ourselves – how will we ever know we have given life our best shot.
Apply
techniquessuch as guided imagery, role play, mindfulness, tapping – establishing a real mind and body connection to drive purposeful change. Each session we utilize feedback to fine tune the next session. This process relies on your commitment to act and complete tasks in between sessions that strengthen our in-session work.
“Your decisions to act are inevitable and they shape your quality of life”
Each client at the end of treatment receives a Therapy Journey Pack outlining the Therapy steps and an array of suggestions for maintaining the outcomes. Deciding to use Therapy to explore can be one of the best decisions you ever made – I time of openness to other possibilities -that can happen over a period of time.
I offer a free 15 minute follow up a month after your last treatment as I am always interested to hear where your journey is taking you.
